In 2014, 50 murder cases, 31 of the victims were foreigners, in which 18 were Myanmar nationals. Many of them are gruesome murders with bodies dismembered to pieces.

Police deny Myanmar national murders are related with the racial clash in their homeland. But no one believes the story from the police.

Torso and legs of man found in canal

NIBONG TEBAL: The torso and legs of a man has been found in a flour sack dumped in an irrigation canal off Jalan Besar, Sungai Bakap, near here.

The discovery of the torso came three days after a head with both ears missing was found outside a restaurant in Bukit Mertajam, about 20km away.

Yesterday, a man in his 40s made the gruesome discovery behind his house when he stumbled upon two legs tied with a wire sticking out of the sack at 5.15pm.

He alerted police who found both the legs which had been chopped off at the knees and the torso in the sack.

Penang CID deputy chief Asst Comm P.R. Gunarajan said the victim was clad only in a dark coloured long pants with a belt.

He said there were multiple stab wounds on his chest and abdomen, adding that the body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.

He said police were investigating whether the body and the head found in a black plastic bag on the walkway outside a restaurant in Lorong Impian Ria 5 in Bukit Mertajam on Monday were those of the same person.

In another case, the bodies of two men believed to be foreigners were found floating in the Kulim River at Kampung Tun Sardon in Penanti, Bukit Mertajam.

Villagers alerted the police when they spotted the bodies at 5pm yesterday. Firemen fished out the bodies at about 7.30pm.
