Hokkien Mee is a favorite soup noodle of most of the Penang islanders,
irrespective of their Chinese origins. This tasty, but slightly hot soup is a
broth simmered with pork bones, fried onions, lean pork and shrimps. The boiling
broth is then added to a bowl full of cooked yellow noodles and rice vermicelli,
fried shrimps, bean sprouts, water convolvulus, hard boiled eggs, sliced lean
pork, fried onion and chilli paste, to make up a delicious bowl of Hokkien Mee.
In some cases, one can also find pork knuckles, prawns, fish balls and even pork
intestines in Hokkien Mee. Of course, the price of it will be adjusted
accordingly.One can find Hokkien Mee in hawker center in every corner of Penang. To the
Hokkien ethnic from outside Penang, Hokkien Mee is a must to try.
