A bevy of beauties from around the world learn about the rich history and heritage of the island’s Babas and Nyonyas
A bevy of 60 beauties from around the world visited the magnificently renovated century-old building for a tour and were briefed on the history and heritage of the Babas and Nyonyas of Penang.
The Miss Tourism International Competition 2011 contestants were also treated to local fruits and a breakfast of local delicacies.
“The durian was popular with the beauties. The girls had some video shots taken for the competition to be held later in Kuala Lumpur,” said Peranakan museum director Lillian Tong.
At the end of the visit, the girls were each given a bag of Malaysian postcards, an ang pow and a sarong each. [Article link]
