FANS of the German-based fairy tale, ‘The Elves & the Shoemaker’, should head for Queensbay Mall in Penang to catch a live musical act on the story from Dec 15 to Dec 26.

The musical at 1pm and 7pm, tells a story of an old shoemaker and his wife who run out of money just before Christmas.

With not enough money for food or clothing, a Christmas gift for each other is always a luxury they could never afford.

To make ends meet, the old shoemaker cuts out the last bit of leather he has for shoes to sell, then goes to bed.

During the night, the elves come and magically stitch the shoes, decorating them with gold thread and diamond buttons, to the elation of the old couple when they see the shoes the next morning.

The shoemaker then sells the shoes to the duchess for her daughter and have enough money to buy more leather to make more shoes.

As Christmas is drawing close, the musical is part of the activities lined up by the mall to celebrate the festive season.

Themed ‘The Elves’ Fun Land’, the event will include the Christmas Fashion Show on Saturday where clothing brands in the mall will showcase their clothing lines during the show.

Meanwhile, there is a Post Card to Santa Contest from now until Jan 1 with a four-days-three-night Hong Kong Disneyland trip for two up for grabs for shoppers.

Besides that, shoppers also stand a chance to receive goodies from Santa daily at 3pm from Dec 15 to Dec 26. [News link]
