Joy ride: One of the carriage rides at the three-day Horse Show 2011 at the Penang Turf Club in Jalan Batu Gantong. The carnival ends tomorrow.

CHILDREN could be seen laughing with glee as they went on pony and carriage rides at the Horse Show held at the Penang Turf Club (PTC).

The three-day horse show, which started yesterday, will thrill visitors with a range of activities for the whole family.

Apart from the main dressage and equestrian events, other highlights include carriage and pony rides, a rare Malaysian wildlife exhibition and face painting.

PTC president Datuk Ong Eng Khuan said the horse show, which was held for the fourth time, has helped to boost the economy and tourism in Penang with the various event participants from other states converging here.

He added that the club also sponsored 178 underprivileged children from six orphanages around the state as part of its corporate social responsibility.

State Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Develop-ment chairman Lydia Ong Kok Fooi was present at the PTC to launch the event which will end tomorrow.

The show is open from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free. [News link]
