New eco-tour to be held for Penang Hill visitors
By HAFIZ MARZUKHI
NATURE lovers will get to learn more about the flora and fauna on Penang Hill as Hotel Bellevue has launched a new nature tour as part of its efforts to boost eco-tourism there.
The hotel’s corporate manager Low Kum Fuat said the ‘Ride and Stroll’ tours were launched to encourage both local and foreign tourists to visit and to learn more about the many different species of flora and fauna which inhabited the hill.
“It is important for locals and tourists to be able to separate the native species from the non-native ones as without this knowledge, it will be impossible to fully appreciate our local flora and fauna heritage,” he said.
The nature tour called ‘Learn about Trees and Plants’ will be conducted by Malaysia Nature Society (MNS) (Penang branch) arborist Ali Ibrahim.

Scenic ride: An electric buggy is set to take tourists around the hill
The tour, divided into sessions, is priced at RM60 per person.
For MNS and Friends of Botanical Gardens members, they will only have to pay RM50 each.
The fees include the fares for electric buggy rides and picnic treat, which are limited to 20 persons per session.
The eco-tour will be held tomorrow and Wednesday between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
The tour will start and end at the hotel and 4WD rides are available from the Penang Botanic Gardens.
